Provenance & lore

Seraphine’s story.

Seraphine came to us from the estate of a Provençal seamstress who, in her final years, would not sleep unless a candle burned beside the doll’s glass case. Her bisque is unblemished; her glass eyes have a way of catching what little light there is.

Three successive caretakers have remarked on the same thing — a sense of being studied, particularly while reading or sewing. She has never been associated with anything unkind. She simply prefers not to be left in the dark.

  • Human hair wig
  • Original silk dress
  • Catches the light
